According to multiple reports, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio will be his choice for secretary of state, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will lead the Department of Homeland Security.

According to The New York Times, which first reported the news, Trump could still change his mind at the last minute about Rubio's selection.

The son of Cuban immigrants, the 53-year-old Rubio was elected to the Senate in 2010. He was one of Trump's opponents in the 2016 Republican Presidential primary when he nicknamed his then-rival "Little Marco."

Rubio is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees.

The news of Noem's selection to head DHS came from two people familiar with the matter, according to CNN.

DHS, formed in 2002, is the third-largest Cabinet department, after the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.

Noem, age 52, had been seen as a possible running mate for Trump in the 2024 election but faced backlash after she wrote in her book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward," that she shot and killed her 14-month-dog dog, Cricket, when she was not displaying the signs of a hunting dog.
